Bombardier plane joins peat firefighting efforts in Miri, 30 military personnel to join tomorrow

MIRI, March 27: In response to the peat fire north of Miri City, a team of 30 military personnel will be deployed to assist in firefighting efforts, tomorrow (Thursday).

According to Miri Disaster Management Committee (MDMC) minister-in-charge Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, the deployment of these military personnel is to help other agencies such as Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and to contain and extinguish the blaze.

Lee also disclosed that a Bombardier plane arrived promptly at 1pm today to assist in the firefighting efforts against the peat fire.

“The Bombardier made a recce over thr effected areas before starting the water bombing at 3pm,” Lee said.

He added, a Bomba helicopter (Mi-17) also continued water bombing over the affected area.
