Bomba rescues trapped drivers in separate crashes

KUCHING, May 1: Two drivers were pinned inside their respective vehicles in separate crashes here this evening.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the first case occurred at Mile 9, Jalan Kuching-Serian, while the second case occurred at Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong in Batu Kawah.

Firefighters from the Batu Lintang fire station, including its Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) unit, were rushed to the location in response to both incidents, which occurred in the span of about 2 hours from each other.


“In both incidents, both of the drivers lost control of their vehicle and ended on the road shoulder, which saw both of them pinned inside the vehicle.

“The first incident, involving a four-wheel drive, occurred at Mile 9 Jalan Kuching-Serian at around 5.31pm, while the second incident at Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong at 7.01pm, involved a sedan car,” the statement said.

The operation commander reported that both of the victims were still trapped inside their vehicle when Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scenes.
