Bomba Bintulu rescues eight stranded by floodwaters in Kidurong

BINTULU, Dec 24: Eight residents, including children and a senior citizen, were safely rescued by firefighters after being stranded by rising floodwaters at a squatter house in Seberkas, Kidurong, late Tuesday (Dec 23) night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Bintulu received an emergency call at 10.32pm and promptly dispatched a team to the scene, located approximately 15 kilometres away.

Firefighters arrived at 10.47pm and found the residents trapped inside the flooded house.

Using an aluminium rescue boat, the team successfully evacuated all eight victims, comprising two adult men, one adult woman, one senior man, three boys, and one girl, and transported them to a safe location.

The victims informed that they would stay with relatives while waiting for the floodwaters to recede.

Operations commander Muhammad Ashrul Jimmy confirmed that the rescue operation concluded at 11.51pm, with all personnel returning safely to the fire station. — DayakDaily
