KUCHING, August 15: The management of Kuching International Airport Airport (KIA) today dismantled the bollard road dividers that were meant to disperse traffic at the terminal building, after MP Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii raised the matter with Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Dr Yii felt the bollards might cause inconvenience to the public and that the metal ones were a safety hazard to vehicles.

It is understood that the bollards were installed due to complaints that errant motorists had parked indiscriminately.

“I spoke to Transport Minister Anthony Loke recently on this issue,” said Dr Yii in a statement.

“The ministry responded swiftly and I was told the KIA management had dismantled the bollards at 2.30pm today.”

Dr Yii said with its removal, the public would be able to drop off and wait for their passengers.

“With that, I encourage drivers to be responsible and not to disrupt traffic flow in the area,” he said.

He, however, called for more enforcement officers from relevant agencies to control the traffic flow in the area. — DayakDaily
