KUCHING, Sept 14: The body of a teenager who went missing at Sungai Kaabah, Kanowit was found floating at Sungai Bidut, Sibu on Monday afternoon.
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, a member of the public saw a body floating at the Sungai Bidut and contacted the Sibu district police at 4.30 pm today.
The 18-year-old boy was reported to be missing on Sept 12 when he went out to deliver an oil barrel opposite Sungai Kaaba, Kanowit at 7.30 am.
The villagers later saw the boat without the missing teenager on it at 9.30 am. The Bomba was contacted and a search and rescue (SAR) operation was activated for the missing teenager.
The statement said the body was then brought to Sibu General Hospital and was identified as the missing teenager from the attire he worn based on information provided by his family members.
Bomba later ended the SAR operation at 6 pm and returned to their station.-DayakDaily
