Body of missing man found in Batang Igan

SIBU, Sept 10: The body of a 23-year-old man who was reported missing was found last night (Sept 9).

According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the man identified as Aaron Wisley Jamut was reported missing around 1pm last Friday (Sept 6).

Around 10pm yesterday (Sept 9), Sungai Merah Fire Station (BBP) received a call about the discovery of a body floating in Batang Igan near Toung Aik Shipyard Sdn Bhd.

The body was retrieved with the aid of a Civil Defence Force (APM) boat.

The police confirmed that the body was the missing victim around 5.55am the next morning, subsequently ending the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Based on initial reports, Aaron’s father reported that his son went out to check on his salary at a bank around 8pm on Thursday (Sept 5) but failed to return home.

Members of the public had found Aaron’s motorcycle parked on Lanang Bridge.
