Body of missing man found, believed to be victim of croc attack

The body of a man missing since Oct 27 after an attack by a crocodile at Kuala Baram Industrial Estate has been recovered on Oct 31, 2020.

MIRI, Oct 31: The body of a man missing since Oct 27 after an attack by a crocodile at Kuala Baram Industrial Estate has been recovered minus his lower torso.

Indonesian national Muhammad Syopyan Nasution , 24, was found by Sarawak Land Shipyard workers in a large drain at 9.15am today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre in a statement disclosed that the victim’s lower torso was missing.

The body was confirmed to be that Muhammad Syopyan by his family members who were at the scene to identify him.


The two-day search and rescue (SAR) operation involved firefighters, police and civil defence personnel, as well as two rescue boats and one excavator.

Muhammad Syopyan’s body was later handed over to the police for further investigations.

On Oct 27, Muhammad Syopyan and his fellow countryman Badriansyah, 24, quietly sneaked out from their workplace at about 9pm and crossed a river by walking over some pipelines. They were heading towards a supermarket in Tudan.

While crossing the pipeline, a crocodile appeared and snatched Muhammad Syopyan. -DayakDaily
