Body of Ngemah man feared drowned while swimming home found

KANOWIT, Jan 14: The body of a man who was feared drowned while swimming across the river to return to his rented house at Rumah Panjang Manggin Nanga Buan in Ngemah was found today.

According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the body of 25-year-old Mohamad Hamizan Reduan was found on the sixth dive, about 3km from where he was last seen on the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation at 11.34am today.

“Six dives at a depth of 5m were conducted at the location where the victim was last seen within a 9m search radius,” said the report.

The victim’s body was retrieved and handed over to the police for further action. The SAR operation ended at 12.10pm.

Yesterday (Jan 13), it was reported that Mohamad Hamizan was on his way back to his rented house for lunch on the other side of the river by swimming across.

He suddenly disappeared when he was in the middle of the river, and the water level at the time of the incident was high. — DayakDaily
