KUCHING, Oct 6: The body of a man was found floating along Sungai Kawi near the Rumah Panjang Tuai Rumah Dangat in Bintangor on Sunday (Oct 5).
In a TVS report, Meradong police chief DSP Tansli Mering said information was received on the incident from villagers at around 1.10pm and a team was deployed to the scene, which was about 2km from the longhouse.
The victim was found wearing only a pair of blue jeans with no identification documents.
“Preliminary examination found that the body was missing both hands, the tip of the right foot was injured, and the face was swollen and decomposing,” he said.
The body was brought to Sarikei Hospital, where police have requested a post-mortem to be conducted, including the collection of DNA samples for identification purposes should any next of kin come forward.
The case is currently classified as sudden death and an investigation is being carried out.
He urged those with missing relatives to come forward and make a report at the Bintangor police station, while also reminding the public not to speculate on the incident. — DayakDaily
