Body of 67-year-old woman found in own home

MUKAH, June 4: The body of a 67-year-old woman was found in her own home in Kampung Jebungan here today.

District police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the Mukah police station received a distress call regarding the case at around 9am.


“The deceased’s nephew who lived nearby tried to call her a few times to accompany her for grocery shopping but since his phone calls were not answered, he went to visit the deceased’s house to check on her.

“Upon arriving at the house, the nephew saw his aunt’s body in the bathroom,” he said in a statement today.

The deceased, identified as Philips Jaya, 67, lived alone in the house.

Rizal said preliminary investigations found no sign of foul play at the scene.

“The victim’s body was later sent to Mukah Hospital Mortuary for further action,” he added.

The case has been classified as sudden death and is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
