BELAGA, Jan 1: The body of a 60-year-old man who was feared drowned after falling from a boat while searching for durians along Sungai Benatu in Punan Bah has been recovered.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Belaga reported that the victim, identified as Micheal Sait Lanyau, was found by the search and recovery (SAR) team and villagers at 9.10am, approximately one kilometre downstream from the operation control post.

His body was discovered on the third day of the SAR operation today.

The victimā€™s remains were transported to the Belaga town wharf using a police boat. He was certified dead and handed over to the police for further action.

Micheal disappeared on Dec 30 at around 7.30am when his boat capsized.

Several villagers witnessed the incident from a distance. Initial rescue efforts by the villagers proved unsuccessful, leading to a police report and the launch of the SAR operation. ā€” DayakDaily
