Body found at Sungai Kemena in Bintulu, firefighters assist police in recovery

BINTULU, Jan 16: Firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) assisted police in a body recovery operation at Sungai Kemena here this morning, following a report received at 10.36am.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident involved a special assistance operation to lift a deceased victim at the Pasar Tamu area along Sungai Kemena.

According to an operations report issued by Bomba, a team from BBP Bintulu arrived at the scene at 10.38am, just two minutes after receiving the call. The location was approximately two kilometres from the station.

Upon arrival, the body had already been transported by the Marine police to a nearby wharf, where it was handed over to police personnel on land. Firefighters then carried out monitoring and safety control at the location.

The operation, which involved 10 personnel, concluded at 11.16am. One fatality was recorded in the incident. — DayakDaily
