Bodies of two missing teenagers found

SIBU, May 31: The remains of two of three teenagers who went missing while swimming in Sungai Nanga Tutus on Wednesday have been recovered.

The bodies of Teerince Gong Tommy, 14, and Nurul Syahiera Salam, 13, from Rumah Ligawa were found about 5km away from where they were last seen at Rasau, near SMK Batang Igan.

The search and rescue (SAR) team spotted Nurul Syahiera at 7.05am while Teerince was found at 7.20am.

Yesterday, the body of Trisha Jangok Tommy, 12, was found floating near the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba)’s control post at Tuai Rumah Muja jetty around 2.30pm.

The trio had headed off to the Sg Nanga Tutus river near Rh Augustine Meringgai Jana with one of the victims’ uncle to do laundry and thereafter for a swim.

Later, as they were no where to be found by the victim’s uncle, an emergency call was made to Bomba at 4.10pm, prompting an immediate SAR operation to be launched with a search team comprising Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) firefighters and divers, police personnel and Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel. — DayakDaily
