KUCHING, Nov 13: A boarding school student here alleged that the hostel warden has sexually harassed him since June last year.

The student claimed that whenever he made a mistake, the warden, who is also a teacher, would touch his private parts.

“The first time the suspect committed the offence was when the victim fell sick and stayed at his house in June last year.

“The harassment then continued until this year whenever the victim makes a mistake at the hostel, which led to the victim feeling uncomfortable and traumatised,” a reliable source said.

The victim then opened up about the tragedy to his mother last Saturday (Nov 11), which prompted her to lodge a police report at Gita Police Station the following day.

The source also mentioned that when contacted, the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) commended the school for its swift action in ensuring that the warden was stripped of his post and was not allowed to be in the hostel’s compound.

“The PTA will work with the school to ensure that other victims would come forward to be given counselling.

“The Association had also requested the school and Sarawak State Education Department to take appropriate action against the perpetrator,” the source added. — DayakDaily
