KUCHING, Jan 11: Kuching has been experiencing continuous rainfall for the last few days, but all that came to a halt when Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian went to pay tribute to the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem on the ninth anniversary of the former chief minister’s passing today.

In a Facebook post today, Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, described the moment as a ‘blessing’

“When we paid our respects to Adenan on his anniversary, we did not need an umbrella as the rain had stopped,” he said.

Adenan, fondly known as ‘Tok Nan’, was remembered as a leader whose dedication, sacrifices and courage continue to inspire Sarawak’s nation-building efforts.

Dr Sim also noted that Adenan was a leader who stood firm for the people, championing causes close to Sarawak’s heart, despite his health.

“His legacy lives on in our aspirations today—’jaga Sarawak bait-bait’ (take good care of Sarawak),” said Dr Sim.

Adenan served as Sarawak’s chief minister from 2014 until his death on Jan 11, 2017, and remains widely remembered for his firm leadership style and strong advocacy for Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). — DayakDaily
