Birthday party sparks Jalan Lilin Cluster in Miri, 22 test positive

KUCHING, May 13: A birthday celebration which was held at a house at Jalan Lilin, Taman Tunku in Miri gave opportunity for the a new cluster of Covid-19 known as the Jalan Lilin Cluster infecting 22 people.

According to a report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), a total of 262 individuals related to the cluster have been screened for Covid-19.


Out of that number of people, 22 tested positive, 192 tested negative and 48 people are still awaiting the results of their Covid-19 swab tests.

SDMC added all the positive cases have been referred to Miri Hospital and admitted to Limbang Hospital as well as quarantine and low risk treatment centres in Miri and Limbang for isolation and further treatment.

The committee said all the close contacts have been identified and issued with quarantine order.

On another note, SDMC disclosed the Jalan Sanyan Cluster in Sibu ended today.

There are presently 83 active Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak.

From this total, 10 clusters reported 102 new Covid-19 cases today. — DayakDaily
