BINTULU, Feb 2: As the weather improves and water levels recede, cleaning and rebuilding efforts have begun, with residents hoping to return to normalcy—a time before the floods struck.
In addressing this on his Facebook, Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said that although the floods in his constituency had destroyed homes, the real challenge lies in cleaning up and rebuilding as many houses are left in ruins, covered in mud and debris.
“The road to recovery is tough, with some areas still requiring wading through floodwaters, but with determination and unity, Bintulu will rise again—stronger than ever,” he said.
He also thanked the Progressive Democratic Party’s (PDP) Youth and Women wings and Persatuan Persahabatan Zong Ho Bintulu, whose volunteers have stepped up and mobilised to clean affected homes in Jade Garden, Desa Damai, and Bukit Orang.
Yesterday (Feb 1), he also said that they had delivered essential supplies to hard-hit areas, including the stranded Mile 6 community, and provided 500 packs of bread and 80 cartons of 1.5L drinking water to the Sebauh temporary evacuation centre (PPS) to ensure victims have access to daily necessities. — DayakDaily
