Bintulu to host Sarawak Youth Week 2025 from Oct 13-19

KUCHING, Sept 29: Sarawak Youth Week 2025 will take place in Bintulu from Oct 13 to 19 with an array of exciting programmes designed to celebrate and empower the younger generation.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the annual State-level celebration aims to recognise the role of youths as drivers of change and future leaders of Sarawak.

“The theme this year, Belia Aspirasi Kita (Youth, Our Aspiration), underscores the importance of youths as the hope of the nation, the force of transformation through creativity and innovation, and the custodians of the people’s aspirations for a progressive, prosperous and just society,” he told a press conference here today.

Among the highlights are three main components: Youth Champion, Youth X-Tive and Youth Marketplace. Activities include a boxing workshop with Sapok Biki and Kilat Boy (Oct 14-15), Youth Care outreach at Tatau (Oct 16), mental health sessions (Oct 18), talent competitions, a Youth Fest Run, and an entrepreneurial marketplace featuring 30 stalls by young Sarawakian entrepreneurs.

The closing ceremony, scheduled for Oct 19, 10.30am at Dewan Suarah Bintulu, will be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, where the prestigious Sarawak Youth Awards for outstanding individuals and youth organisations will also be presented.

More than 5,000 people are expected to join the week-long celebration, which will also feature performances by local Sarawakian artistes including Daniel Leong, Lucy M, Nurul Zahnesha, Alexander Peter, Tuah Jili and JayC Panganiban, alongside guest performers from Peninsular Malaysia such as One Avenue Band.

Abdul Karim called on all parties to give their full support to ensure the success of Sarawak Youth Week 2025, which is aligned with the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to inspire positive change and build a resilient young generation.

Amongst those present at the press conference were Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Youth and Sports) Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu; Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, and the ministry’s permanent secretary Morshidi Frederick. — DayakDaily
