KUCHING, May 20: No one is immune from the law, not even politicians, and anyone involved in gangsterism or organised crime syndicates will be dealt with accordingly, says Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing.

He said this in a Facebook post after attending a pre-Gawai Dayak celebration at the Bintulu district police headquarters on Monday (May 19).

In his post, Tiong, who is also Dudong assemblyman and the federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, expressed his support to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for carrying out their duties fairly, free from any external pressure.

“National security is no trivial matter. Any necessary action must be taken in accordance with existing laws. No party, including politicians, should interfere with police work.

“I also urge that firm action be taken against gangsterism or organised crime syndicates attempting to take the law into their own hands in this country, especially in Bintulu and Sarawak.

“I do not want anyone to think they are ‘immune’ to the point of belittling the law. I believe our police force is far more capable and professional than these criminals,” he said. — DayakDaily
