KUCHING, Aug 24: Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has urged ommunity eaders and village heads (KMKK) who are unclear about issues or facing delays in project implementation to seek clarification from his service centre and work towards finding solutions, rather than stirring up unrest or becoming “batu api”.
In a Facebook post, Tiong, who is also Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Dudong assemblyman said issues should be discussed and resolved collectively rather than allowed to escalate into disputes.
“If there are matters you do not understand or have yet to be resolved, come to our service centre to get an explanation about the issue or the delay in implementing a project.
“We should sit down, discuss and find ways to resolve these issues together,” he said.
He also alleged that a KMKK member had acted as a “batu api” by allegedly inciting a Tuai Rumah in the area, which he claimed had heightened tensions instead of helping to resolve the underlying issue.
Tiong did not identify the KMKK member or the Tuai Rumah involved.
He further raised concerns over cases involving longhouses where required documentation remained incomplete despite requests for the documents to be submitted.
He claimed that one KMKK member’s own longhouse had taken three years to complete the required documentation.
“KMKK are appointed to help the people and solve problems, not add to them.
“If there are weaknesses or matters that have yet to be resolved, tell us and we can solve them together. Do not incite people or blame other parties until the people ultimately become the victims,” he said.
He also called on KMKK members to be more active on the ground, listen to residents’ concerns and work towards resolving the issues they encounter. — DayakDaily
