BINTULU, Dec 29: Bintulu member of Parliament Dato Sri Tiong King Sing is committed to initiating delayed development projects in the constituency in a phased manner.

Acknowledging administrative shortcomings that contributed to project delays, Tiong apologised for any inconvenience caused to the community.

“Furthermore, the by-election for the Jepak constituency was held this year.

“However, don’t worry. We are fully committed to resuming the related development projects in stages,” he said in a statement on his social media yesterday (Dec 28).

He highlighted this during a Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 gathering jointly organised by the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Bintulu and Jepak Village Chiefs Association held on Wednesday (Dec 27).

Tiong also admitted that his visits to longhouse residents had been limited due to his responsibilities as the head of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac).

“I apologise. However, now that the Ministry’s work and operations are running more smoothly and in order, I will take this opportune time to visit the longhouse community, engage with them, and address their concerns and grievances,” he pledged.

The PDP president hopes this initiative will contribute positively to the longhouse community’s future.
