KUCHING, March 21: Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing has mobilised for food and financial aid to be distributed to the Rumah Lapie Lai fire victims following an incident that occurred on March 20.
According to Steven Kong Kai Seng, who is the special officer to Tiong, he and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) supreme council member Saging Layang, along with staff from the Bintulu MP service centre, visited the victims to present the contributions.
The victims are being housed at the St Bernard Chapel, which is close to their longhouse.
“I hope that this small assistance can ease their burdens as they face this challenging time.
“May all the fire victims be granted strength and resilience to rise again from this disaster. We are with you,” he said in a Facebook post.
The fire caused about 300 residents to lose their homes, as 27 out of the 30 longhouse doors were destroyed. — DayakDaily
