KUCHING, Feb 25: The Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHAS) 2026, set to take place in Kuching next year, must exceed the scope of a standard exhibition and function as a wide-reaching platform connecting halal industry players, investors and market stakeholders, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said.

“It must not only showcase products and services, but also create real business opportunities through structured engagements,” he said in a recent statement.

According to him, the proposed concept includes business matching sessions, investment engagement segments and industry forums to ensure measurable outcomes.

“The structure must be clear and focused so that participants understand the value proposition of taking part in BIHAS 2026,” he added.

On promotion, Awang Tengah stressed the need for coordinated and strategic outreach efforts, including early engagement with industry associations and targeted marketing to attract international buyers and investors.

“Promotion must be precise and well-coordinated among agencies to secure quality participation and strong industry presence,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of inter-agency coordination and logistical readiness to ensure smooth implementation of the programme.

Awang Tengah said BIHAS 2026 should serve as a strategic platform to attract investment, expand market networks and strengthen the competitiveness of local halal entrepreneurs, while reinforcing Sarawak’s position in the global halal industry landscape. — DayakDaily
