KUCHING, Oct 28: The Bidayuh Council of Elders (BCE) will bar the establishment of Federal Village Community Management Council (MPKKP) in 344 Bidayuh villages in Kuching and Serian Divisions, said BCE chairman Temenggong Austin Dimin.

“During our meeting this morning, BCE unanimously passed as resolution to bar the setting up of MPKKP in all the 344 Bidayuh villages in Kuching and Serian Divisions,” Dimin told DayakDaily today.

BCE is made up of the Bidayuh community leaders consisting of the penghulus, pemancas and the temenggongs from the community.

Dimin asserted that there was no point to have two sets of bodies looking after the affairs of the Bidayuh villages.

“It will definitely divide our community. So, we said ‘no’ to the setting up of MPKKP, as the existing Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK) have been doing a good job and have served the people well,” he stressed.  — DayakDaily
