BETONG, Sept 25:The town of Betong is all set to host its biggest event this year which is the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu(PBB) convention Betong Zone tomorrow (September 26).
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is the organising chairman of the convention said some 650 delegates from 14 branches would be attending the event.
He said they are from Sebuyau, Lingga, Beting Maro, Balai Ringin, Bukit Begunan, Simanggang, Engkilili, Batang Ai, Saribas, Layar, Bukit Saban, Kalaka, Krian and Kabong.
He added some 100 members of the party supreme council and about 50 veteran members would also be attending the event.
Uggah who is Bukit Saban assemblyman said the convention would comply strictly with all the standard operation procedures(SOP) for the Covid-19 pandemic.
He disclosed that the function will be held at the Dewan Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan.
Uggah said four working papers will then be presented followed by an election briefing for duty officers from the zone.
Uggah who is also Second Finance Minister said Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi will be the first speaker to speak on his paper entitled “Strategic Partnership: Infrastructure Development.”
Thereafter, he said Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi will talk on utility projects.
Uggah said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is PBB president is expected to arrive at 10:30 am to launch and address the convention.
He said the programme will be followed by the presentation of resolutions by Julaihi to Abang Johari.
In the afternoon, Uggah said Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Co-Operatives Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will give a talk on entrepreneurship incentives and development.
He added the programme will then be followed by a talk on land matters and issues by Land And Survey Department deputy director Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood.
Uggah is in Betong to make final preparations for the convention as well as attended a rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the PBB mini-convention accompanied by Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu and a political secretary to the chief minister Dr Richard Rapu. — DayakDaily
