KUCHING, Oct 20: Sarawakians will once again have the honour of welcoming the beloved royal couple—His Royal Highness Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Royal Highness Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah—who will be gracing the Sarawak Drum Festival and Sarawak Regatta 2025 in Kuching early next month.
The former King and Queen, who captured the hearts of Sarawakians during their memorable Pan Borneo Highway road trip in 2023, are set to attend the Sarawak Drum Festival (Gendang Sarawak Festival) on Nov 1 at Kuching Waterfront, alongside Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
They will also be present at the closing ceremony of the Sarawak Regatta 2025 the following day (Nov 2), with Tun Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah as guests of honour.
According to a report by the Sarawak Information Department (JaPen), Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah earlier today paid a courtesy call on Tun Wan Junaidi at Astana Negeri Sarawak to extend the formal invitations to both events.
Also present during the courtesy call were Deputy Minister for Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister for Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Kuching Resident Dayang Joanita Azizah Abang Morshidi and senior officials from related agencies. — DayakDaily
