KUCHING, March 10: Projects to upgrade and increase living quarters for Bekenu and Batu Niah Police Stations will be proposed to be included under the next 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) Rolling Plan.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Home Minister Dato Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the proposal was made in view of the urgent need for implementation once the priority review was made.

“Currently, Bekenu Police Station has three quarters; however, only two blocks are livable, while the Batu Niah Police Station has two suitable quarters and all the quarters are built using wood,” he said in a written reply to Sibuti Member of Parliament, Lukanisman Awang Sauni at the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (March 8).

He explained upgrading and adding blocks should be carried out to ensure the comfort, safety and welfare for those who work at the two stations.

He said the effort was under the attention and action of the Logistics and Technology Department, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). — DayakDaily
