KUCHING, March 25: The Bebuling short-take-off and landing airport (STOLport) project is expected to be completed by Aug 16, 2025.
According to video footage shared by Public Works Department (JKR) Betong division on the JKR Sarawak Facebook page today, current progress of construction is at 47.40 per cent.
The scope of works for the RM296 million include earthworks, airfield pavement works for the runway with a total length of 1190 metres by 23 metres wide, drainage system, building works, and civil works, including mechanical and electrical work and services.
Upon completion, the Bebuling STOLport will enable other development in the surrounding areas of Spaoh and Betong.
It will also provide vital access for the development of the corridor’s industries and activities while creating jobs and economic growth for Sarawak and Malaysia.
Other benefits of Bebuling STOLport is that it will encourage the development of more agriculture land due to the area being identified for agro-based industries as well as providing an alternative transportation route for agriculture produce from Bukit Sadok area. — DayakDaily
