KUCHING, Sept 14: With just days to go before the national-level Malaysia Day celebration, final preparations are well underway at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), as performers and organisers put the finishing touches to the highly anticipated event.
On Sunday evening (Sept 13), Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah visited the venue to oversee final rehearsals and preparations for the upcoming Malaysia Day celebration on September 16.
Abdul Karim, the minister in charge and co-chairman of the upcoming Malaysia Day celebration, inspected the final rehearsals and event preparations to ensure the proceedings are well-coordinated.
Held under the theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Bersama’ (Shared Prosperity), the celebration is expected to bring together about 5,000 people at BCCK.
Among those expected to attend are Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.
The rehearsal at BCCK showcased a vibrant line-up of performances, featuring traditional dances, poetry recitals, musical performances, and a recitation of the national pledge.
The performances beautifully illustrated Malaysia’s diversity, showcasing a harmonious society where individuals of various races, religions, and cultures unite as one Malaysian family.
The atmosphere at the venue also reflected the spirit of Malaysia Day, with performers and organisers working together to ensure the celebration runs smoothly.
The programme will also bring the audience back to an important chapter in the country’s history—the formation of Malaysia on Sept 16, 1963.
A flag ceremony and colourful performances will form part of the celebration, making the event a meaningful occasion for Malaysians, especially with Sarawak hosting the national-level celebration this year.
With just 48 hours remaining, the final rehearsals and preparations are now underway as Sarawak gets ready to welcome national leaders and thousands of guests to BCCK for the Malaysia Day celebration.
For Sarawak, this event is more than a celebration of the nation’s formation; it is a vital opportunity to showcase the state’s vibrant culture, unity, and spirit of togetherness to the rest of the country. — DayakDaily
