KUCHING, Mar 10: Bau and Serian have re-entered the red zone as the Covid-19 caseloads in the two districts inched upward to 41 and 42 local cases in the last 14 days respectively.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, informed that both districts registered six cases each today.
This increased the number of districts in Sarawak in the high-risk red zone to 12 as of today.
Subis, Julau, Selangau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu were the 10 districts still in the red zone with a total of 2,604 local cases reported in the past two weeks.
Of the districts in the red zone, Sibu continued to top with the highest number of local cases at 980 in the last two weeks followed by Bintulu (345), Miri (312), Betong (257), Kapit (249), Kuching (230), Meradong (89), Selangau (56), Julau (44) and Subis (42).
Samarahan and Song districts’ Covid-19 advisory level has also been elevated to orange from yellow after recording 21 and 23 local cases in the past 14 days.
These two districts joined Kanowit, Sarikei, Dalat and Sri Aman in the orange zones which reported a total of 100 local cases in the past two weeks.
A total of 11 districts remained in the yellow zone with a total of 96 local cases reported in the last two weeks. They were Belaga, Lundu, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Marudi, Mukah, Pusa, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok and Sebauh.
Meanwhile, Sarawak reported 199 new Covid-19 cases today with Sibu continued to top the list of daily infections with 41 cases followed by Kapit and Kuching (33 cases each), Miri (22), Song (19), Bintulu and Tatau (8 each), Seian, Bau and Betong (6 each), Samarahan (4), Bukit Mabong (3), Mukah and Pusa (2 each) as well as Dalat, Saratok, Sarikei, Sri Aman, Subis and Selangau has one case each.
This thus increased the state tally of positive cases to 11,710.
Sarawak also recorded 137 recoveries with 40 patients have been discharged from Bintulu Hospital, 28 from Sibu Hospital, 23 from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), 17 from Miri Hospital, 16 from Kapit Hospital, seven from Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Betong, and six from Sarikei Hospital.
Thus, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak has increased to 9,124 or 77.92 per cent of total positive cases so far. — DayakDaily
