KUCHING, June 5: Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang urges the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to provide its own enforcement personnel to combat illegal activities.

In a press statement today, he cited the police’s insufficient manpower in providing sufficient enforcement around the clock in order to curb unwarranted activities.

“How (could we) provide satisfactory enforcement when there are only two vehicles patrolling the whole length (from) Padawan police headquarters to Telaga Air?” he said.

He urged the government to complement the federal enforcement authorities through Sarawak’s own Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPN) to provide sufficient enforcement services that will deter any illegal activities.

Lo said this following the recent murder case at Kampung Haji Baki, which is within his constituency.

He also encouraged the relevant authorities to allow all children in Sarawak to attend schools to lead the children away from damaging activities such as getting involved in drugs. — DayakDaily
