KUCHING, Jan 7: Batu Kawa Health Clinic has received basic medical equipment from PETRONAS Sarawak to support faster and safer treatment for the local community.

The donation includes ultrasound machines, MacroView Plus Otoscopes, vascular dopplers, blood pressure monitors, and office supplies to assist daily clinic operations.

According to PETRONAS Sarawak general manager Norazibah Md Rabu, the initiative is part of the company’s Social Impact Programme and reflects its commitment to improving rural healthcare.

“These are more than physical assets. Their true value lies in saving time, guiding clinical decisions, and ultimately saving lives,” she said at the handover ceremony today.

The programme, carried out in partnership with Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) and the Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS), has identified 26 rural clinics across Sarawak for support, with a total allocation of RM1.3 million. Between 2023 and 2025, 17 clinics have already benefited from this initiative.

Norazibah said the initiative showed how collaboration between public and private sectors could deliver greater impact to the community, which aligns with the Sarawak government’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 to build a more resilient and inclusive healthcare system.

“Today’s effort is about planting hope for the community, healthcare workers, and future generations,” she added.

Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy President III and Honorary Secretary of SABATI Dato Enn Ong Siok Ean, Acting President of SABATI Dato Doreen Mayang Uggah, and Senior General Manager of State Relations Anuar Ismail, and Kuching Division Health Officer representing the Director of the Sarawak State Health Department, Dr Johnny Pangkas. —DayakDaily
