KUCHING, May 30: Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Seri Prof Dr Sim Hui Kian has assured that the drainage system project in the Batu Kawa area will continue in order to build a better living place that is free from flash flood.
He said the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) has recently completed another drainage system for a few of the areas in Batu Kawa, despite a little delay from the actual scheduled March completion date, due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“So far, more than 18 area’s drainage system clearing and upgrading job has been completed since last year, under the request from the residents and the coordinating efforts between my Service Centre team and DID.
“DID will request the project contractors to clear the blockages in the drainage system, as well as to deepen, to clean and to widen the drain if necessary,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Sim, who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing, also urged for the Batu Kawa residents to not hesitate to lodge any feedback on the local issues faced by them to his Service Centre.
“This is so that the Service Centre can assist and solve the problem for them,” he added. -DayakDaily.
