Upon arrival at 2.51pm, it was noted that a small amount of smoke was still visible coming from the heap of used tyres that had been previously burned.

Firefighters carried out extinguishing works, and the situation was brought under control at 3.10pm.

Once the fire was fully extinguished and after ensuring that the area was safe and that no fire source would reignite, the firefighters returned to the station.

The operation ended at 4.20pm.

The latest incident came a few days after a fire broke out at the same location on Nov 21. Before that, a massive fire broke out on Oct 29, which took about a week to be extinguished.

Following the October incident, the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) and the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) confirmed that the premises had been operating as an unlicensed tyre storage facility. — DayakDaily
