KUCHING, Oct 29: Batik Air will launch new direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Bintulu starting Nov 1, 2024, with 10 flights per week.
Sarawak’s Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin highlighted this move as a vital step in enhancing accessibility and facilitating smoother travel to Sarawak.
In another significant expansion, Batik Air will commence a Kuala Lumpur-Miri service on Jan 14, 2025, with 14 flights weekly.
“These new routes are anticipated to strengthen connectivity between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak, making it easier for travellers to experience the unique attractions of the region,” Lee said in a statement today.
He further emphasised that these direct routes are crucial in promoting business travel, facilitating air cargo movement, and unlocking economic opportunities in Bintulu and Miri, both key industrial hubs.
Lee also noted that with Shell relocating its headquarters to Miri, Sarawak is set to attract more visitors and investors, contributing to the region’s sustainable growth across various sectors.
