KUCHING, 22 Sept: A 14-year-old teenager was found dead after he was believed to have drowned in a river located at Kampung Segedup, Batu Kawa on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was reported to have been bathing in the river before going missing at approximately 9am. The deceased’s friend told parents about the incident and Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) was contacted and rushed to the scene.
According to the statement from the State BOMBA Operation Centre, a Search and Rescue (SAR) had been activated and BOMBA had used the ‘water surface searching’ with boats belonging to the villagers of the area.
The deceased was found approximately 14 feet away from the scene where he was reported to be missing and was announced dead after he was brought to shore.
The operation ended at 11.35am and the deceased’s body was handed over to the police. — DayakDaily
