BETONG, Oct 22: The construction of Batang Lupar Bridge No. 2, from Sri Aman to Betong Interchange, as part of the Sarawak Second Trunk Road Package B4, has achieved a physical progress of 68.43 per cent and is expected to open to the public in March 2026.
Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak director Datu Ir Dr Cassidy Morris conducted an official site visit to the project on Tuesday (Oct 21).
In a post shared on its social media, JKR Sarawak highlighted that the project, part of the broader Sarawak Second Trunk Road initiative, aims to strengthen the State’s primary road network, accelerate socio-economic development in rural areas, and enhance connectivity between the central and western regions of Sarawak.

During the visit, he also inspected the Jelukong Rest and Service (R&R) area and a bus stop along the Pan Borneo Highway.
He urged road users to make proper use of public facilities and avoid littering at bus stops, emphasising the importance of maintaining cleanliness and upholding the image of the State’s public infrastructure.
The Sarawak Second Trunk Road is seen as a major development effort to support economic growth and improve accessibility across the State, particularly benefiting rural communities along the route. — DayakDaily
