KUCHING, Nov 23: The 728-metre bridge across Batang Kemena in Sebauh is nearing full completion and is expected to be opened for use from Dec 4.
In a TVS news report, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the project, valued at approximately RM105 million, will serve as a key catalyst in improving road connectivity and driving development in the surrounding area.
He said several components of the project have already been completed, including the bridge construction costing about RM76 million, which was undertaken by a rescue contractor.
“The bridge is expected to be fully completed and ready for use on Dec 4. Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is responsible for infrastructure and port development, will officiate the soft opening on Dec 5,” he said during a working visit to the development project site in Pekan Sebauh today.
According to him, the opening of the bridge will connect areas such as Ulu Pandan and Binyo directly to Sebauh without reliance on ferry services, while also creating new opportunities for future development in the region. — DayakDaily
