KUCHING, May 30: The Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) Sarawak has expanded BAS.MY Kuching’s routes further to serve the Batu Kawa area, following strong public demand.
According to a press release, starting now, six BAS.MY Kuching buses will serve key locations in Batu Kawa, including residential, educational, commercial, and healthcare areas.
“Since the successful launch of our first route under the Bas.My Kuching brand, we have received overwhelming feedback and support from the public.
“One of the most frequent requests has been for the service to be extended to Batu Kawa and today, we are proud to deliver on that request,” CVLB chairman Michael Kong commented.
- Residential areas – Everbright Park, Taman Kwong Thiong, Taman Boulder Built, Tematu Hill, Taman Chungnion Villa, Jalan Field Force, Taman Desa Wira and RPR Batu Kawa;
- Schools – SJK Chung Hua No. 4, SM Sunny Hill, SJK Chung Hua Batu Kawa and SJK Chung Hua Stapok;
- Commercial areas – Emart Batu Kawa, MJC Batu Kawa, Pines Square, 3 Mile market, 3 Mile Commercial Centre and Batu Kawa Commercial Centre; and
- Hospitals – Timberland Medical Centre and Sarawak General Hospital.
On weekdays, the first bus from SJK Chung Hua Batu Kawa will start at 5.30am and the first bus from Saujana will be 6.30am. The last bus on both routes will be 7.30pm.
To better accommodate commuter needs, CVLB has identified weekday peak hours; from 6.30am to 8.30am and 4.30pm to 7.30pm, and will increase bus frequency during these periods to every 30 minutes, to meet anticipated demand.
“We recognise that traffic congestion is a major issue for residents in Moyan, Malihah, Sejijak, and the greater Batu Kawa area.
“By offering this reliable and efficient public transport service, we hope to provide a viable alternative to private car usage, thus easing traffic and reducing the environmental impact of urban commuting,” Kong said.
He also encouraged all residents of Batu Kawa to try out this new service and embrace public transport as a practical, comfortable, and sustainable way to travel.
“We will continue to listen to the public’s needs and expand our routes and services to build a more connected, accessible, and modern Kuching,” he added. – DayakDaily
