KUCHING, March 21: The BAS.MY Kuching stage bus service has been viewed as a game-changer for the city’s public transportation system, with 232 residents already applying for the concession card, reflecting growing positive response to the new service.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, in a statement, said the new stage bus addresses long-standing issues such as growing traffic congestion and public transport accessibility, offering a modern, inclusive, and affordable solution for commuters.

“To make public transport even more cost-effective, the Federal Government has introduced the My50 travel pass, which offers unlimited rides for just RM50 per month.

“Additionally, concession cards are available for senior citizens, OKU users, and students.

“Those eligible can register with their NRIC (and OKU card if applicable), while students will need a confirmation letter from their institution. Registration can be done at Biaramas Express Sdn Bhd’s office at 9 Market Street (above 7-Eleven) or at the temporary booth near the Open Air Market,” he said after experiencing the BAS.MY Kuching service firsthand.

He also highlighted that the registration fee for the concession card is only RM10, with a validity period of two years for senior citizens and students, and five years for OKU users. Renewals are free, making it an affordable and accessible option for Kuching residents.

“This project is a clear demonstration of an effective and inclusive initiative by the Federal Government, leading to real improvements in people’s lives.

“I encourage more Kuchingites to take advantage of this service, as embracing public transport will reduce traffic congestion and help build a more connected, sustainable, and people-friendly city,” Yii said. – DayakDaily
