KUCHING, Nov 29: Bandar Kuching MP Kelvin Yii is committed to help and support Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in providing better healthcare services to all Sarawakians.

“I am looking forward to work with them to the best of my capacity to help provide a good environment for the patients as well as staff as an appreciation for their hard work, commitment and sacrifice,” he said in a press statement.

Yii had today paid a courtesy visit to SGH to meet with the hospital management, doctors and nurses to discuss on the different needs of the hospital and how they can work together to provide a better environment for both staff and patients.

He also handed over medical and non-medical equipment worth a total of RM210,000 to the hospital to be used in different departments including the Emergency Department, Urology Vascular and Wound Care, Ophthalmology Department, Surgical, Physiotherapy and others.

Among the assistance provided during his previous visits to the hospital this year included RM20,000 to the SGH Visiting Board Members to organise more health events outside the four walls of the hospital; RM5,000 to the SGH Staff Association for the welfare of hospital staff; as well as various essential equipment for patient care.

Yii noted that SGH has so far organised free PekaB40 health checks in public shopping malls and were planning more programmes in different locations all around Kuching for the convenience of the public.

“We hope that through these assistance, the quality of patient care can be improved in the hospital as well as to create a better environment for the patients,” he added.— DayakDaily
