KUCHING, Feb 2: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has helped a single elderly man who is living in poverty find a temporarily accommodation.
In a statement, Dr Yii said the elderly man who is unable to work and has no immediate family to take care of him has sought help to find a proper place to stay.
“He has been relying on the kind help from different people around, including church groups.
“He contacted me and requested my office to help him find a simple place to stay as he has no income and only survives on some minimal welfare aid from the government,” he said.
Following that, Dr Yii has mobilised his team to locate a room for him to stay temporarily due to urgency.
“We also helped move some of his stuff up to the place and cover the initial cost of the accommodation on top of purchasing a table for him to use,” he added.
Dr Yii added that his office will continue to help the man apply into government-run or charitable old folks homes which are more suitable for his condition. — DayakDaily
