KUCHING, June 15: The Baleh Hydro Dam in Kapit, which is currently under construction, is expected to be able to produce electricity in 2028.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress, stating that it is proceeding smoothly and adhering to the designated timeline.
“For the Baleh Dam project, the completion is scheduled in 2016, and now the project is progressing smoothly.
“Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a minor delay. While I am unable to provide the latest progress status of the project, it is progressing smoothly,” he told reporters last night (June 13).
Abang Johari was met at Federal Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi’s Gawai Day celebration at his residence in Kuching.
Additionally, Abang Johari informed that Sarawak will also build a dam in Trusan.
Currently, feasibility studies are being conducted, and subsequent implementation will follow suit. — DayakDaily
