KUCHING, Oct 30: The outdoor kitchen at Balairaya Kampung Stampin (behind KPJ Hospital) is set to be completed by Dec 14, 2025, under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024 with an allocation of RM50,000.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin yesterday visited the village together with officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) to inspect and officially hand over the project to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Kampung Stampin.

The upgrading works, which commenced on Oct 14, 2025, involve the construction of a new roofing structure, cooking area and storage space for kitchen utensils and equipment.

According to a statement, the works will be carried out by the JKKK through the gotong-royong approach, while MBKS will supervise and monitor the implementation to ensure proper standards and quality.

Yap said the upgraded outdoor kitchen will provide a better communal space for residents, especially during social, cultural and festive gatherings organised by the JKKK and local community.

“This RTP project reflects true community empowerment where local residents work hand in hand with the government to improve their own facilities.

“It also strengthens community spirit and ensures that every ringgit spent truly benefits the people,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to MBKS for its continuous support and collaboration in implementing development projects efficiently.

“With MBKS’ technical guidance and the community’s participation, we can achieve more sustainable and inclusive development in our constituencies,” Yap added.

The assemblyman reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting Kampung Stampin and other areas within the N12 Kota Sentosa constituency by working closely with grassroots leaders to identify and deliver projects that meet local needs. — DayakDaily
