KUCHING, May 15: It is a new beginning for Malaysia under the unity government, opined Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

Snowdan, who is also Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, said what is important is a stable federal government that would not jeopardise the country’s economic development.

“It has never been done before. So what we want to see from the unity government is that it is a fair government meaning that it should focus towards the overall development of the county, especially in Sarawak and Sabah,” he told reporters when met at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here today.

He was asked to comment on yesterday’s Unity Government National Convention 2023 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

Asked if such a convention would help to foster relationships among the parties involved, Snowdan said he is positive that all the parties will set their differences aside and focus on what matters.

“The unity government wants all parties involved to come together and build a stronger Malaysia.

“That is why I think it is a bit unique (the Unity Government National Convention 2023), because all the parties were fighting against each other previously, but this time around, everyone is on the same side and become friends,” he added. — DayakDaily
