Awang Tengah wins Bukit Sari for GPS with comfortable majority of 5,636 votes

KUCHING, Dec 18: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has retained N82 Bukit Sari for the fourth term after garnering 6,385 votes.

Awang Tengah led with a majority of 5,636 votes, leaving behind Alias Mail of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) who secured 749 votes and Riyah Basrah of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) with 165 votes.

The official results were announced by Election Commission’s (EC) Bukit Sari returning officer Ladin Atok.

There are 13,054 registered voters in the Bukit Sari constituency.

In the 2016 Sarawak Election, Awang Tengah, a three-term assemblyman of GPS-Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (GPS-PBB), won the seat uncontested.

The constituency comprised the polling districts of Sundar, Bukit Sari, Merapok, Lawas, Gelapas, Awat, Baru, Luagan, Aru, Pagar, Katong, Pemukat, Dato, Belipat, Sualai, Punang, Sibagol, Melusok, Temangis, Mission, Ladang Baru and Silat. — DayakDaily
