KUCHING, July 15: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan was bestowed with the prestigious honour of The Most Distinguished Order of Paduka Seri Laila Jasa – First Class by Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah today.
This esteemed award grants him the title Dato Paduka Seri Laila Jasa.
The investiture ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan, in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Awang Tengah’s wife, Dato Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, also attended the ceremony.
Speaking during a brief interview recorded today, Awang Tengah expressed his profound gratitude for receiving the royal honours from His Majesty.
“This shows the strong and close relationship between Brunei and Malaysia, particularly Sarawak, not only at the government level but also among the people,” he said.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of International Trade and Investment, emphasised that Malaysia, especially Sarawak, will continue to collaborate with Brunei in various potential areas, including trade.
“This collaboration aims to foster economic growth in both countries,” he added. — DayakDaily
