MIRI, June 7: An attacker sustained injuries to his left arm after his victim struck back in an act of self-defence.
The suspect is currently being treated at Miri Hospital under police supervision where he also received 27 stitches.
The incident was reported to have occurred in a longhouse in Batu 8 Lambir earlier this month on June 2 at 3.15pm.
However, the actual cause of the incident was not immediately known.
Prior to the incident, the suspect had arrived at the victim’s longhouse armed with a machete and a spear. The suspect then shouted, demanding for the victim to come out.
During the ensuing quarrel, the suspect had threatened the victim’s grandfather with the machete which the latter managed to avoid. This triggered a struggle between the victim and the suspect.
It was believed that during this struggle, the victim managed to grab the machete and slashed the suspect. After the incident, the victim immediately contacted the police.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. — DayakDaily
