Association’s lobbying for DanceSport as Sukma 2024 exhibition sport receives support from S’wak govt

KUCHING, April 19: Sarawak DanceSport Association’s (SDA) lobbying efforts for DanceSport to be included as an exhibition sport at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) in 2024 in Sarawak has received a big boost.

In a statement today, the SDA said that it received all-around support from Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS), and the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department (JBS).

SDA said it held a series of meetings between its president Chester Lim and their officials with SSC Chief Executive Officer and MSNS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, and SSC Development Officer Linda Ling.


It also revealed that the association had a separate meeting with JBS Director Lamat Nyalau, JBS Deputy Director Ronnie Boniface Nugi and JBS Youth And Sports Officer Dennis Dempi.

Meanwhile, after a meeting with the Minister for Youth, Sports And Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and key Sarawak government, sports officials, Lim was advised to bring the matter forward to be presented, to the Federal Minister for Youth And Sports Hannah Yeoh.

Lim said that SDA would do all necessary to promote further interest and participation in DanceSport activities and development.

“SDA is looking forward to working together with SSC in various development programmes,” he said.
