KUCHING, March 31: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) president Lina Soo will host a plant swap community event this coming Sunday (April 3).
A gardening enthusiast, Soo said the purpose of the event was to promote a green environment culture.
“Participating in a plant swap provides a social platform to support green initiatives and cultivate sustainable living practices,” she said in a statement today.
To her, exchanging plants allows hobby gardeners in the community to come together and share extra plants, be they edible, herbal, flowering or ornamental.
“Swapping plants is not just to share one’s passion for gardening, but encourages wellness and enhances one’s health by consuming the organic plants one grows for a healthier diet.
“Participants will also learn of must-have plants in a garden to enhance health, produce oxygen to purify the air, and for absorption of harmful EMF (electromotive force) radiation which causes stress and sicknesses,” Soo claimed.
To her, it is of paramount importance to encourage gardening to boost health, enhance food security and promote self-sustainability for humanity.
Apart from exchanging plants, Soo will also give away free okra (ladies’ fingers) germinating plants and seedlings.
Okra, she said, is a popular vegetable bursting with nutrients which boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure and protects against eye age-related diseases.
